I am horrified with the service I received at Cathy’s Dry Cleaning. A month ago, I brought in a $175 silk Theory tank top for cleaning. When I picked it up, there was visible damage on the front. The front desk staff asked me to leave the garment so they could attempt to fix it. I agreed, giving them the benefit of the doubt. When I picked up the blouse today, it was completely ruined—far worse than before (see attached photos). Despite the damage clearly having occurred while in their care, the business has refused to compensate me in any way for the destroyed item. To make matters worse, the owner, Tom, ignored my initial messages and was rude, dismissive, and sexist when I finally reached him. His behavior was shockingly unprofessional and rude. He told me no compensation without receipt. Who keeps receipts for items they have worn and purchased two months ago. I gave this company two attempts to fix the damage and they didn’t. Now they refuse to compensate me. This has been an horrifying experience, and I would strongly caution others against using this dry cleaner.
Avoid this business. It's simply not worth the risk. I brought in a Jack Victor sport coat that had only been worn once. When I picked it up, it had been severely shrunk—the sleeves were about four inches too short, and the entire jacket was ruined. When I raised the issue, the person at the front counter assured me the owner would contact me to resolve it. I provided my receipt, as requested. Days passed—no call, no email, nothing. I followed up in person, clearly frustrated. The employee got the owner on the phone, but he refused to speak with me directly. Instead, he had her instruct me to try on the ruined jacket and suggested I "try to stretch it out." That was his solution. Seriously. To this day, Cathy’s Dry Cleaners still has my damaged sport coat and has made zero effort to make things right. No replacement, no refund, not even an apology. Just silence. Sadly, this wasn’t an isolated incident—this also happened to a colleague of mine, whose dress was damaged the same way. The owner treated her with the same level of indifference and disrespect. If you value your clothing or expect even the most basic level of accountability, do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. Let my experience be a warning to others.
I strongly recommend against Cathy’s cleaners downtown. They lost a custom-made shirt the first time I brought clothes here. The manager, Tom, asked me to give him two weeks to find the shirt, which I did. When he couldn't find it, he offered to reimburse me. But he ghosted me after I sent a copy of the receipt. Six weeks later, he has neither sent reimbursement nor responded to texts, calls, and e-mails following up. The dishonestly compounds the loss of the shirt and refusal to reimburse, as Cathy's has also wasted much of my time. A terrible experience.
I wanted to love this place because the location was so perfect. They ruined two expensive outfits. I returned one for them to fix, and they gas lighted me saying nothing was wrong. I returned the second item because they messed up the one thing I asked to do (fix a button) and they lost the belt to the dress. When I returned to see if they had fixed it and if they found the belt, I learned they lost the entire dress. I was told a manager would call me to talk about it and I never heard from anyone. Don’t take anything to this shop if want to see it again or see it in better condition than you left it.
Horrible service. If you care about your clothes and don’t want to waste your time, stay away from this store. First time bringing my clothes here and this will be my last time. They don’t clean well then they will waste your time pretending they are doing something to fix the problem but nothing will be done.
Had a case where they failed to meet the time they had told me my suit and business attire would be cleaned. This unfortunately caused me to move my flight back for work trip as I waited some time for them to track it down. They also lost my shirt at a different time, and never repaid me back either. I just gave up on them, rather than pushing to resolve, as I didn’t feel it was worth potentially providing more business their way. It’s a great location for those in the city, and I wanted to make them my go to cleaners. Still in reality it is very pricey, and for service that doesn’t match the cost.
Following my first visit to this dry cleaner, I was extremely disappointed and will not be returning. Although I had asked for no starch, clearly this request was not noted as my shirts came out flat and stiff as cardboard (I had to peel them apart). By itself I might have given them another chance, however they also came back with white stains on them to the point that I will need to have them cleaned again before being usable. I only hope that the more delicate ones have not been permanently damaged.
Don’t complete projects on time, Make excuses, act like you’re in the wrong and it’s your fault. Spoke to manager who is extremely condescending. Take your business elsewhere, there’s a reason their reviews suck
Excellent experience! I just returned from a trip overseas and needed clean clothes in 24-hours as I was traveling again the following morning. After contacting several other cleaners, Cathy's cleaners was the only cleaners that was able to get the laundry done prior to my departure. When I dropped of the clothes the staff was extremely friendly and offered local tourist recommendations. The following day, the staff brought my clothes to the hotel to ensure I had them prior to my departure! Again, excellent experience - the staff went above and beyond! If I visit Austin in the future, I will definitely be using Cathy's Cleaners!
I came here for some minor alterations during their business hours and they tell me the person that does the alterations only comes by Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. I reminded them that Saturday's 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. is listed as closed on Google maps but they assured me that they will be open and they can help me. I show up on a Saturday during those times and realize that they are closed so I start knocking the door and someone shows up and very rudely tells me they're closed. How much of a horrible business owner and human being in general do you have to be to treat someone with such disrespect!!!
