These folks do a great job cheaper than everywhere else. They are also very nice and accommodating, as they come out to my handicapped mom's car to get her items from her and also return the items to her when they're finished. We love this place!
First of all, I take only my casual, not my quality items there. I took a pair of pants of some quality there. They were faded but not where I could not hide it. So I wore them because they matched an outfit. I subquently brought them in and showed the owner. He said his process could not have done same, to which I said I only have used your cleaners. He dismissed my concern. Today, I brought a pair of pants back in to add a crease. The person in charge used the ticket number attached, stating that because I brought them in outside of 30 days, there should be a charge. I challenged her stating that the pants had not been clearly worn, she said it was incumbent on me to ask for the crease. It took then less than 3 minutes to add the crease. Fortunately I was not charged this time. In the past, before the current staff, I was routinely asked if I wanted a crease. Now, she says it's on me to ask. Because of pricing, they can afford to lose customers; customer services is very poor. The notion that the customer is always right is a joke.
I tried to give this place a chance. Multiple chances, in fact - I've been using them about twice a month for the last year. The staff are nice, and the price is good; but I guess you get what you pay for. Multiple times I've had to have them redo items - which they gladly do, but I shouldn't have to take a shirt multiple times to get it cleaned. There have been two instances as well where they've permanently messed up an item of clothing - once they used too much heat on a suit jacket they caused a bubbling effect, and another shirt they imprinted a colored pattern on a previously white shirt. They will claim they'll try to make it right, but both times all they offer is $50; I don't bring normal tshirts here, I bring my nice dress clothes for dry cleaning, and you can't replace anything for that price. So disappointing that quality (read: decent) dry cleaning doesn't exist in West Ashley.
Horrible customer service. My husband dropped his suit and dress pants off here and they were returned as if they hadn’t even been dry cleaned and his pants were ripped. “The owner” said they couldn’t fix the pants and they wouldn’t give a refund for the service. You also cannot speak with “the owner” or get their name from staff. What a weird and terrible business.
This place lost my suit within 4 days. I had a wedding I needed the suit for, they didn’t find it in time so I had to buy a new suit. My other suits are huge on me as I lost 40lbs. They told me if they couldn’t find it they would offer me $50 or store credit. One of the managers (skinny lady with missing teeth) threatened to call the police on me for waiting 40 mins for them to find my suit. If your items are worth more than $50 go any where else.
I have used this cleaners for about 3 months now. Startes out as a great place. The last few weeks not so great. I have had to return because someone overslept. I took a shirt in to see if they could remove a stain. When I received the shirt back the tape used to mark the stain was still there. Leads me to ask the question WAS THE SHIRT EVER CLEANED? When I tried to ask that question I was told I had to wait for a manager who was busy with another upset customer. I decided to leave the shirt and take my business elsewhere. CUSTOMERS OF THIS BUSINESS PLEASE BEWARE….
Horrible customer service. Took two brand new items in to be pressed. The gown came back barely pressed and dirty and the shirt look like my teenager tried to iron himself. When I brought it to their attention the clerk argued with me and begab speaking to her colleagues in Spanish in my presence. Failed to accept responsibility. Extremely rude and refused to remedy the situation. I will never go back. I rather pay a little more for good service. Don’t waste your money.
I brought 3 dress to be cleaned , came to put up my dresses, only two was done, The said come with me, we walk to back where I saw my dress in a bucket ( my dress was white and black dress; white to top and black the bottom) he told me that the black had bleed into the white, I was shocked at first then I said to him this is brand new dress I wore one time and it is ruined, he said it isn’t his fault I need to take it too where I bought. I said no you are responsible because you ruined it. He proceeds to me that he is going to soak it for a few days and kept telling how he ruined it , he said if got to send it off it will cost me 50.00 I’m not going to allow you in here again. Hello who want to come there after this experience
1.99 Cleaners on Sam Rittenberg Do Not Go!! I have been a long time loyal customer of $1.99 cleaners (over 10 years), but they have permanently lost my business & I hope you will read this prior to taking your clothes there. The $1.99 cleaners is conveniently located for me and of course the price was right - I started going there when it was the $1.25 cleaners. Two weeks ago, I took 6 of my husbands’ dress shirts in to the laundered and starched. I picked them up a few days later and did not look at them until I arrived home and put them in the closet. One of his shirts (below) was completely frayed and totally destroyed. I went back & pleasantly spoke to the lady (Janine) behind the counter about this issue. In an instant, she became rude and in a condescending tone told me they did not destroy the shirt and it was not their responsibility. I remained calm & asked to speak to the manager. Jeanne told me that the manager (Maria) was busy and unable to come to the desk. At that point, I was beginning to get aggravated and told her I would wait until the manager (Maria) was unbusy. She said it would probably be about 45 minutes; therefore, rather than stay in the cleaners, I decided to wander in the furniture store next door. I returned in about 35 minutes and was told that Maria had left. I left a note for Maria with my concerns and asked that she contact within three days. Five days went by & no word from Maria. I went back to $1.99 cleaners and was again met by Janine and she said that Maria was not there. When I told her that I had not heard from Maria and wanted to know if there could be any reparations as this was a rather expensive shirt (over $50). She became very hasty and informed me that it was NOT their fault and they did not do this. I told her that I certainly not bring it in that way and was unhappy. Janine continued on that it was not their fault and no, they were not going to do any thing about it! At that point, I lost my patience and I told her I would never be back in their store and could I at least have my 1.99 back for cleaning what is now a destroyed shirt. I was refunded this small token. On the way out of the store, I told another customer to be cautious and showed her what happened. I was rudely told (by Jenine) I was NOT to speak to THEIR customers. This is not the first time I have had concerns with their professionalism and quality of work. Shirts were often returned with missing or broken buttons (which I could easily fix - - but shouldn’t have too) and I would put-up with their rudeness as the price was excellent; however, I am now in search for a dry cleaners West Ashley that will treat customers with respect and not destroy my clothing.
Today is April 30, 2021. I drop off my dress ONLY to be PRESSED on Wednesday three days ago and my dress was not ready. I would never go there ever again. The customer service sucks. They do not deserve any stars.
