My family's washing machine broke down and we can't get it fixed for a week. So for the first time after movong to the neighborhood 9 years ago we have to use this laundomat. Sort of run down, no attendant no AC no TV. Several of the washers and dryers have blue painter tape on coin slot which means they're broken. Bring LOTS OF QUARTERS because these things don't accept credit cards and probably not dimes and nickels. There's a number to call if the machine eats your coins but I don't know if someone willl help if the changer runs out of coins. As of writing, small washers are $4 per load (31 minutes). Large washers are $7. Small dryers are 25 cents for 3 minutes. Large dryers are 25 cents for 2 minutes.
Place to do your laundry. Most of the washers and dryers work. Bring your own quarters, most of the time change machine is out of quarters. Open 24 hours a day. Nice place to do your laundry. Check this place out.
Kay's laundry is not cheap and not super expensive. A bunch of machines were down on the day I visited, but with the number of washers and dryers packed into this joint, there were enough capable machines ready to help you clean clothes and a dollar bill changer for all the quarters you need. Interesting crowd. 👀 Esp the crowd that's not actually washing clothes.
Is ok, wish opened til 1:00am or 2:00am and not midnight. Late night is quiet and if police would circle around twice an hour I really don't see a problem with homeless like before, sunday night did 10 wash loads 3 dryers - 1st wash in 9:30pm out 11:20pm folded clothes at home.
It may look sketchy, but the prices are reasonable and most of the machines work, so that makes it one of the better coin laundry places in town. Just don't leave your stuff in the machines too long after it's finished because it's a busy place and people will move your stuff and won't let a machine sit idle.
the "big" washers are TINY and $6.75 per load while the "small" washers are just a tad smaller and only about $4 for a load. they even changed from being 24/7 to closing at midnight. the only good thing is they have a quarter machine (though it goes out sometimes) and the "small" dryers are quite big for 3min per 25¢ so I don't need to use the big dryers that are 2 min/$0.25
i had a good experience. it had a change machine, had a machine to buy laundry needs, and a lady came to clean up the place very well. yes there were severly homeless next door but that is hard to avoid if you stay in Honolulu. it is open 24 hours which is a plus. would hardly recommend it.
The convenience is worth the price for me. I live one minute from here so it’s not a huge inconvenience. Manoa is cheaper though I don’t like to go far from home. It’s cleaner now that they cleared the people that were outside. I never had any real issues here. No one bothers anymore
So though there are better laundromats in the greater area, this one is on my street, and less expensive. It's still not great, but there have been some improvements made with the performance of the machines. It's a very small place with no room for adding new machines, so I take advantage of working and an irregular schedule to avoid waiting.
I love that this laundromat is open 24/7. It is clean and well maintained. All machines are coin operated only (minus 1/2 star) so sometimes the machines block the coin intake if they are full of quarters, especially the larger washers later in the afternoons and evenings (minus 1/2 star). There are 2 change machines on premise that accepts bills up to $20, and they are pretty well stocked. There were a few times when one machine ran out of quarters, but the other one still had. Theres a country operated vending machine for soap and fabric softener if you didn't bring your own. No food vending machines. There are 5 triple load washers @ $6.75, about a dozen or so double load washers @ $4.00. No single load washers. All washers are front loading, and they actually use hot water for the hot and warm wash cycles, unlike several other laundromats in the area that don't disclose that they use only cold water for all cycles. There are about a dozen large dryers large enough to dry two double loads @ $0.25 per 3 minutes. The 2 extra large dryers (great for king size comforters or other big bulky loads) are $0.25 per 2 minutes. Most loads take about 24-30 minutes (approximately $2.50 for the large dryers, ~$4.00 for the extra large dryers) to dry completely, depending on the amount of clothes and the type of material. For example, a double load of cotton terry cloth towels needs a little more time, like 39-45 minutes. This is not the closest laundromat to my house, yet it is my preferred laundromat because of its hours, cleanliness, and good quality, well maintained machines with hot water and stocked change machines. This place would get 5 stars if their machines accepted cards (either credit/debit card readers on each machine, or proprietary reloadable laundry cards with a reloading station that accepts cash and/or credit/debit cards) instead of quarters. Personally, I go late at night when there are few other customers, if any, and I can do all my multiple loads of laundry simultaneously which really saves me time.
